Rrrrrumores y Revolucionesss
por Maria Inigo Clavo / Research Fellow Art History ( University of Essex) : Research Project / Meeting Margins

María Iñigo Clavo is Research Officer for the AHRC research Project Meeting Margins: Transnational Art in Europe & Latin America 1950-1978, in the Department of Art History and Theory at the University of Essex. She finished her PhD at Complutense University of Madrid, where she began to take an interest in Latin American Art, especially Brazilian Art, during the sixties and seventies. She has studied the dialogue between Post/Decolonial proposals and art works by Brazilian artists in the seventies. Her research into art and politics, especially Brazilian art, allowed her to co-curate with Intermaediae (Spain) a Meeting between Brazilian and Spanish art groups in 2007, resulting in interchanges between Brazilian and Spanish artists. She presented with Yayo Aznar the First Post-Graduate Specialization Course in Art History and Aesthetics in Benemérita Autonomous University of Puebla in México. In 2008 she was teaching MA courses at the European University of Madrid in Latin American Art and Postcolonial issues. Currently, she is a researcher in the project Arte y Pensamiento en la Edad Moderna y Contemporánea at UNED (Spain’s Official Open University) in the Art History Department and a member of the Conceptualismos del Sur Network.

María Iñigo’s research for the Meeting Margins project is focused on the Latin American presence in Encuentos de Pamplona, Spain in 1972 where works from the itinerant exhibition of Towards a Profile of Latin American Art promoted by CAYC were exhibited. This exhibition was presented at the Colombian Biennial in ‘72 before travelling to Buenos Aires, Pamplona, Madrid, Warsaw, Rejkyavik, Quito, Panama and Cali. Secondly she is interested in the role of the Caribbean in Latin American interchanges during the sixties and the seventies. For this last case study she focused on the case of the Bienal de San Juan del Grabado Latinoamericano y del Caribe which started in 1970, and the Meetings in the Cuban institution Casa de las Américas in 1972 and ‘73. The meetings were devised to strengthen a left-wing artist network, and were linked to a Chilean Meeting in 1972 in the University of Chile. The process was interrupted by the Pinochet coup.

Hi just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a
few of the pictures aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure why but I
think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different browsers and both show the same results.
